Master Classes and Workshops
I offer master classes and workshops for conservatories, music schools, festivals, universities, early keyboard societies and other organizations. Introduction to early keyboard instruments (clavichord, square piano, Viennese fortepiano, Cristofori fortepiano): I can come to you with my instrument(s), or use instruments you provide.
Duration: an afternoon, a day, a weekend, a week, several times a semester…it’s up to you! For all levels, beginning to advanced, and for all ages. A typical presentation:
- short demonstration on each instrument
- historical information
- technical information (pedals, knee levers, actions, etc.)
- iconography
- listening to recordings of similar instruments
- each participant has one or more opportunities to play the instrument(s)
- explanation of four-hands and chamber repertoire
- an informal concert given by participants
I generally give a recital at the beginning or end of a master class or workshop. Contact me for further information.
